How we look after your information

BrightPath Tuition is committed to handling personal data fairly, securely and in line with UK data protection law. This policy explains what we collect and why.

Last updated: May 2026. BrightPath Tuition provides tuition services, handles enquiries and assessment bookings, processes tutor applications, and communicates with parents, students and applicants through this website and by email.

1. Who we are

BrightPath Tuition (“we”, “us”, “our”) is a UK tuition provider. We operate the website at www.brightpathtuition.com and related services for families, students and tutors.

For questions about this policy or how we use personal data, contact info@brightpathtuition.com.

2. Personal data we collect

Depending on how you use our services, we may collect:

  • Parent or guardian name, email address, phone number and preferred contact time
  • Student name, age or school year, subject interests and learning needs
  • Enquiry and assessment booking details submitted through our website forms
  • Tutor application information, including qualifications, experience, references and safeguarding declarations
  • Communications you send to us by email or through our forms
  • Technical data such as IP address, browser type and device information when you visit our website
  • Cookie data as described in our Cookie Policy

We ask that parents and guardians provide student information on behalf of children. We do not knowingly collect personal data directly from children without appropriate parental involvement.

3. Children and student data

Because we work with young people, we take particular care with student information. We use student data only to deliver tuition, arrange assessments, communicate with parents or guardians, maintain safeguarding records and support learning progress.

Safeguarding concerns are handled separately and may require sharing information with appropriate authorities where necessary to protect a child. See section 11 below and contact safeguarding@brightpathtuition.com for safeguarding matters.

4. Enquiry forms and tutor applications

When you submit a contact enquiry, free assessment request, private tuition enquiry, safeguarding message or tutor application, we use the information you provide to respond, review suitability, arrange next steps and keep an appropriate record of our communication.

Tutor applications may include sensitive information such as safeguarding declarations and employment history. We collect this only where necessary for recruitment, vetting and safeguarding purposes.

5. Email communications

We use email to confirm enquiries, respond to parents, communicate about assessments and bookings, process tutor applications and send service-related messages. We may also send information you have asked to receive about our tuition services.

Email delivery may be handled by trusted service providers acting on our instructions. We do not sell your contact details to third parties for marketing purposes.

7. Data retention

We keep personal data only for as long as needed for the purposes described in this policy, including legal, safeguarding and operational requirements.

  • Enquiry records are typically retained while an enquiry is active and for a reasonable period afterwards
  • Tutor application records are retained in line with recruitment, safeguarding and employment requirements
  • Tuition and safeguarding records may be kept for longer where required to protect children or meet legal obligations
  • Website and technical logs are retained for security and troubleshooting for a limited period

When data is no longer required, we securely delete or anonymise it.

8. Sharing with service providers

We may share personal data with carefully selected service providers who help us run our business, such as website hosting, email delivery, form processing and administrative tools. These providers may only use data on our instructions and must protect it appropriately.

We may also share information with professional advisers or authorities where required by law or to protect the welfare of a child or young person.

9. Safeguarding exceptions

The welfare of children comes first. If we receive a safeguarding concern, we may need to share relevant information promptly with our designated safeguarding lead, statutory agencies or other appropriate parties, even where you have not given separate consent.

To report a safeguarding concern, contact safeguarding@brightpathtuition.com.

10. Your rights

Under UK data protection law, you may have the right to:

  • Request access to the personal data we hold about you
  • Ask us to correct inaccurate information
  • Request erasure in certain circumstances
  • Object to or restrict processing in certain circumstances
  • Request data portability where applicable
  • Withdraw consent where processing is based on consent
  • Lodge a complaint with the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO)

To exercise your rights, contact info@brightpathtuition.com. We may need to verify your identity before responding.

11. Security

We use appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect personal data against unauthorised access, loss or misuse. No online system can be completely secure, but we review our practices regularly and limit access to personal data to those who need it.
